Renunciation of Indian Citizenship and Surrender of Indian Passport after acquisition of foreign nationality

Those Indian passport holders who acquire foreign nationality are required to surrender their passports to the nearest Indian Mission/Post within three months of acquisition of foreign nationality.

*Fee for Renunciation/Surrender of Indian Passport:

1.

Fee in case foreign nationality is acquired before 31.05.2010

Baht 900

2.

Fee in case foreign nationality is acquired after 01.06.2010

Baht 4900

*A service charge of Baht 70 will be levied in addition.

Passport Miscellaneous Form and the Renunciation Form are to be filled by the applicants.

The misuse of Indian Passport is punishable offence under Section 12(1A) of the Passport Act 1967. The offender shall be punishable by imprisonment of upto five years and with fine ranging from Baht 7000 to Baht 52,000.

Penalty will be levied, on case to case basis, for retention/renewal/travel on Indian passports, after acquiring foreign nationality whose final validity expired on or after 01.01.2005.The details are as under:-

  1. Penalty of Baht 7000 for retention of Passport.
  2. Penalty of Baht 7000 for each travel on Indian Passport. (aggregate Penalty on travel not to exceed Baht 35,000)

5.

Renewal /re-issue of Indian Passport and travelling on it after acquiring foreign nationality

  1. Baht 17,500 for each renewal/re-issue
  2. Penalty of Baht 7000 for each travel on Indian Passport. (aggregate penalty on travel not to exceed Baht 35,000)
